Get mouseover running.
Use this checklist when installing a beta build, granting macOS permissions, or starting your first screen-aware working session.
First launch checklist
- Download the DMG and drag mouseover into Applications.
- Open mouseover. It lives in the menu bar and does not show a Dock icon.
- Enter the email from your invite and your beta access code.
- Grant Microphone, Screen Recording, Screen Content, and Accessibility from the panel.
- Move your cursor to the screen you want help with, then start a Working Session.
- Hold Option + Shift to ask questions. Release when you are done speaking.
Why the permissions are needed
- Microphone is used while you hold to talk. The mic stays muted until you hold the shortcut or the Hold to Talk control.
- Screen Recording and Screen Content let Mouseover AI see low-rate visual context only while a Working Session is on.
- Accessibility enables global keyboard shortcuts from other apps. mouseover still waits for you to click and type.
Common issues
- No Dock icon: click the small screen icon in the menu bar to reopen the panel.
- Screen Recording looks granted but mouseover still asks: quit and reopen mouseover. If it is still stuck, remove old mouseover entries from System Settings and grant access again.
- The wrong display is shared: move your cursor to the display you want help with before starting the Working Session.
- Access code fails: use the exact email from your invite and check that the code has not already reached its beta redemption limit.
